Anyam Light

Architect Ayu Kartika founded Anyam Light after stopping at a roadside workshop where the afternoon sun was pouring through stacks of baskets. The first lamp was one of those baskets, hung over a bare bulb at home.

Each shade is shaped over a steamed frame, dried for a week and finished with plant oil. The workshop still splits every strand by hand.
